Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but I've always though that speaker stands should be around listening level, which for most seating is between 0.6 and 1.5 M [a wide estimate, granted].

At Uni, I have my speakers stacked up on useless heavy items [like course texts], and they sound fairly alright. I'd like however to get some cheap heavy standmounts for my now ailing diamond 2's.

Basically, what I'm asking is:

1) Does the height of stands really matter? [as all the stands i've looked at seem to be ~60cm]

2) If yes, where are the ~1m stands?

Tweeters should be about ear level yeah, which for most small standmounts means ~60cm when sitting down. Standing up it's not so much of a problem as the tweeters are still closest, but if you want taller stands, Apollo AZ and Atacama Nexus both available in 1m versions...
