Speaker set for a 3m x 3m room???

Hello everyone we have a small room in our house that I would like to covert into a tv/music room. It used to be part of the garage and it is 3 x 3m. I was wondering what kind of speaker set up would work in a room this size.

I went to demo a set of Monitor Audio RX1 AV12 but the shop didn't have any in stock but he said I could demo a set of Monitor Audio RX6 AV12 but I am thinking is the room to small for these speakers.

I can pinch another 1.5 from the garage it and make the room 4 x 3 but will require a bit more work.

I have heard the B&W 685 theatre pack and liked the sound of it, should I just get this and be done with?

I suppose, things that spring to mind - what kit are the speakers going to be matched up with? (And, have you demo'd the speakers with this kit

What are the speakers going to be used for - 100% films, or some mix with music?

What's your budget?

If you're looking at MA kit, then you should maybe see about a demo of the MA Apex setup. I think an RX6 AV12 could be a little OTT for your size of room.

I have a B&W 685 Theatre but upgraded the subwofer to the B&W ASW 610. Partnered with my Onkyo 905 they sound immersive and fabulous with Bluerays and DVDs. They also are great with music particularly when partnered with my Arcam hifi system.

It would help if you gave a better Idea of your budget and proposed equipment eg blueray, cd player etc. as this way you would get more relevant suggestions.

I never thought about the MA Apex. I have looked on line and all the reviews seem pretty good. I know I would have to demo them but how would the sound campared to RX1 or RX8 pack as the Apex is a style speaker pack?

The guy at superfi said that I should try the Kef Q300 as fronts and Q100 as rears with the new kef centre and a PV1 sub. He said if I demoed them then he would have to lisen to it as well as he was very impressed with the Q series from Kef.

I guess I could mix and match my up set and get the RxFx for the rears and Apex 10 for the front's with the rxw12 sub. how would that work??

In a 3x3 room, the Apex package will definitely perform better than a full size hi-fi speaker package.
