At the moment my system is Cambridge Audio 640A Version 2, Cambridge Audio 640C Version 2 with Monitor Audio BR2 speakers.

I have £500 to spend on some new standmount speakers.

I also want to know if i need to upgrade my speaker cable for these new speakers. I have CAMBRIDGE AUDIO SYMPHONY 400 at the moment.

Any comments are much appreciated.

Hi Starkey

You should also consider Dynaudio's superb DM 2/7.

I would decide on the speakers first. Once the new speakers are settled in than look at possibily of changing the speaker cables.

Thanks

Rega RS1's, AVI Neutron 5's and the EB Accoustics EB1's should be on your demo list.

Big fan of Focals. The Chorus 806V are around £500. I'm using them as rears in my setup and they're brilliant. For some strange reason, WHF rarely test Focal. Do a search on the 'web, there are a few reviews around inc. this one for the more expensive 807V.
