Hi , i just made my new hifi system , but there is a last little thing that isn't on point : the speakers placement : i have 2,5 meters between them so this should be ok , but i have read that there should be 0.5 to 1m between the back wall and the speaker .So , i have a lot of room behind the speakers but just behind it there is a pillar. Is this a problem? The 1m of space between the speaker and the wall should be just behind the speaker or on the sides behind ?
Speakers: B&W 683s2
Thanks

How far away from the speakers is your listening position?

2.5 m apart may be a bit much. If you move them closer together does this miss the pillar? Home big a diameter is the pillar? I'd keep them at least 1 m from sidewalls too.

They say best to set them up in an equilateral triangle with your listening position as one point but this is only a guide. Feel free to experiment as their your ears and your room.

Hi,

Congratulations on your new purchase. I recently bought some new speakers and getting them set up is a bit of science, a bit of art and some luck as well. Al Ears is right about the equilateral triangle bit, the set up instructions with my Dynaudios said that. Too far apart loses imagery, for example. My recommendation is to put on some music and then move them about. Small changes can sound significant, remember to always judge the results from your listening position, do the same with each speaker (it will get too confusing if you mix the settings). Remember toe in or straight ahead often gives big differences.

Think about seating position too. What is behind you? A reflective wall can bounce the sound.

Enjoy experimenting
