Hi,

I am looking for a speaker package for around £2000 but as
for now I have 3 sets in mind Tannoy Rev Sig., B&W 684 and Monitor Audio
RS6AV. I believe they are all worthy buys (5 stars), the only think that
worries me is the information with some of them that they have to be driven
hard to their full potential.

How series is that and which of them will be best at reasonable
volumes? I live in a flat so won’t be playing music really loud obviously. Is
it really a problem with them that they don’t sound good at low volumes? Maybe
there is another package I should consider?
Thank you for all advice.

I'd be interested to hear people's thoughts on this as well. I have the same issue and am also looking at the Tannoys and the B&W 684. My own preference is for the Tannoy set but I am a little worried by the fact that I live in an upstairs flat with wooden flooring. The suggested Tannoy sub (TS12) is downfiring, does this make life worse for downstairs neighbours or would a front firing one be better? In which case, are there any recommendations to match one with the rest of the speakers.

I will have an RX-V1900, if it ever gets delivered, and a DMP-BD55.

I am too setting up my system from scratch so still have to decide on
receiver and blu-ray player. TV is the closest decision to be made. Still not
sure if KRP-500A is worth £500 extra on LX-5090 though.

My RS6s are played low to medium levels quite a lot and they sound lovely - very detailed with good, tight bass. I doubt if any of the speakers you mention will sound anything but very good at all levels.
