I've got an arcam cd73 going through a creek 4140 to mission V61s. It sounds brilliant up to about 30% volume, but then things start to break up a bit. Could this be because the amp (30wpc) isn't powerful enough for the speakers? Does the amp front load the power, or does the power output increase steadily all the way through the volume pot's range? The speakers are on the floor balanced on halved squashballs to stop the room resonating, which i suppose could account for some of the muddyness. It's hard to put my finger on what sounds wrong, but something in the sound at certain volumes makes me think ooh, better turn that down a bit.

Many amps sound best in that kind of range so a more powerful amp may not help.

How big is the room? What are the furnishings like?

Could be that you need bigger speakers for your room!

It's probably not '30% volume' but 30% on your volume controls scale which could be more than 30% of power used. An no, 30Watts are not a lot. If you think you have to turn it down ... you probably are right to do so.
