SPEAKER DILEMMA

Dear all,

I need your assitance in choosing between Monitor Audios Bx6 silver speaker surround system and the B&W 684 surround speakers. I have auditioned both, on the one hand the Bx 6 in black laquer is stunning and the sound is pretty good too, on the other hand I warm to the sound of the 684 although the speaker cabinets arent that attractive. In the long run which speakers sound best and also do the Bx6 partner well or at all with denon a.v amps (thinking of the 1911).

The BX6 doesn't come in black laquer - are you getting confused with another range? RX maybe?

Sorry youre right i meant the Rx6 not bx6

If you're looking at the 600 series or the RX series, I'd recommend looking at the AVR2311 minimum. The 1911 will drive them to an extent, but isn't going to have the bass control for these ranges, nor a stable enough power supply to deal with speakers that drop to 4ohms. I would actually recommend the AVR3311 in order to make the purchase of any one of these speaker packages worthwhile.

David thanks for the useful info, so why did the guy at the hifi store (im in Cyprus btw) recommend the 1911 when he does stock the 2311?

Hello guys. id like an opinion from audiophiles who have auditioned the rx6's and the b&w 684's what they thought of them and what prompted them to buy one or the other. Cant make up my mind at the moment so some advice would be appreciated.

Monitor Audio's build quality is far superior to B&W 600 range, especially in gloss black or white, they look stunning. I cant comment on SQ of the B&W's but my monitor audio rx2's sound very good.
