My beloved Tannoy 632 speakers died (I over drove them and the coil has fused... [:-$]).

I havn't really followed the HiFi state of the art for over 10 years, and would like some advice. I have a Technics SU-A707 amp and SL-PD887 CD Changer. I need to replace the speakers but I have no idea what would be a good match for the amp.

Originally I tried some speakers out with the Amp (the original amp was stolen some years back) in a hi fi shop, would I be best taking my system to a hi fi shop to audition some speakers or can you guys recommend some good candidates?

I would like to spend up to £300.

Cheers!

wembley speakers in london will sort them out for cheap (think it's called wembley speakers?)

Cheers, only problem is I'm based in North Devon... do you know anywhere is the west-country?

I remember blowing up one of my Mum's Dual speakers as a teenager by playing the Sex Pistols as loud as I could - smoke actually came out of the speaker. It was very exciting and I reckon the speaker had a good death... (can't recall my Mum being too thrilled though)

They got punk'd !

I'm ashamed to say despite all the metal I play it was Drum n Bass that killed mine. I was drunk, the speaker death was some kind of Karma and probably quite timely.
