Hello, need a wee bit of help. many moons ago I bought a cambridge audio amp with some aural envelope ex300 speakers which at the time were more than good enough for our needs. When I was younger I had some great amps by naim and also a Bang Olufsen beomaster 1900,which I loved. Just recently I decided to re live my youth and get a better amp. My first thought was naim but budget wise these were out of my reach,so decided to go for another Beomaster,a 3300,and for me it's cracking. This amp at first was still connected to my ex300s ( which I should add were missing a bass driver due to damage) and I was really quite impressed with the sound, however I thought maybe a bit of detail was missing so decided to go after some different speakers on ebay,I got some,B&W DM23s,in great nick. But it has to be said I am a little disapointed with the sound I am now getting. Don't get me wrong, bass is very punchy and the sound detail is great, but there just seems to be something missing and to be honest I prefer the sound i got from the ex300s,also I now have to have the bass and treble on the amp up very high to get any sort of decent sound out of them with more demanding music,so where am I going wrong ? am I making the amp work too hard with the DM23s ? what spec of speaker would be best suited to the Beomaster ? I listen to all sorts of music and the ex300s didn't seem to have any problems with anything. Please help.

Thank you

Gavin.

Lol yeah that would seem the answer, and I still have my ex300s ,albeit with a missing bass driver. But I wasn't completely happy with the detail on those, although it was pretty good. I guess I could have them repaired or just get some new ones, but I would like to know why the dm23s don't work that well with the amp ?

Thanks

Gav.
