Hi All,

My GF liked the leema xero's as they were small and the finish was lovely. She even liked the sound as well!

I want to try and get all the bass out of them possible to give a fuller sound, so what cable to go for? It needs to go under the carpet, but doesn't have to be flat.

I was looking at chord odyssey 2 or atlas hyper 2. Does anybody else have any ideas?

PS Thanks for all your views on the speakers yesterday.

Think Kimber ...... cover all price ranges, with great performance too! Even a money-back guarantee if you/she decide they are not for you for some reason.

I will have a look at Kimber and see what it is like.

I also have DNM stereo cable, but thought the sound would be quite thin with it....

van den hul make a flat cable that is very good ... used to have some 5 years ago, but cannot remember the model number ... best to test first to ensure that it works well with your system

Why don't you just ask your GF and cut out the middlemen?

There are plenty of pretty designs to choose from, maybe a nice lavender would complement the decor.

there are some things that I let my wife choose, or ask for her advice .(such as furniture or where to go on our next holidaty etc) ...

however .... when it comes to (man) issues like stereo equipment or the car I drive, she has no say at all ... I don't ask, I tell ...

just one of those things I suppose ...

Excellent strategy. She will end up with a much better hifi and car to sell after the settlement

The bass will never be enough. I tried atlas hyper 3.0 (proac tablette ref. 8 sig) and found the extra bass screwed with the midrange.

I suggest get a good detailed cable and, for the bass, get a sub that can be hidden in a corner

See what Audioquest are doing these days. Good all rounders typically and handy at the bottom end without being too bloomy.

take your time and do your research ... also look at the older better cables ... I was waiting for 3 months for a set of Hitachi ssx 102k lc-ofc cable (used to own these a long time ago and is very neutral and highly regarded .... and very rare nowadays) ...

persistance paid off ... got a pair (twice as long as I need) ... for £25 ... earlier today off ebay ... so am delighted!

check these (I had them on my ebay watch list before I bought the Hitachi) ...

FM acoustics Forecelines on ebay ... never heard a pair, but have read very good reviews and these are very expensive when new ... these are standing on £150 with no bids and not many people in the UK know of these, so may be a bargain?

if you are keen, just be carefull as I read somewhere that there may be fakes of these due to the high cost of new

Hmmm... cables recommended by someone who's never heard them, and which may be fakes. Sounds like a plan...

like I said ... research them 1st ... these sell for loads of money new (in the thousands) ... and not many people know of them, so could be a bargain ... came across them whilst searching for speaker cables ... ...

suppose many people do not have the chance to listen to items before purchasing, so we have to rely on the reviews from 'experts' and hifi magazines?

seller has 100% pos feedback and states that he will refund in full if you are not 100% happy .... I thought it may be a good buy at £150 (still no bids)? ... and if it is the genuine item, would be a bargain ... seller also has a croft Zero point X interconnect with a start price of £75 and no bids, so perhaps the speaker cables are the genuine item?

Being close to Christmas, I dont have loads of spare cash, .... and if I never found the Hitachi cables, I was seriously going to have a closer look at these and pay up to £200 ...

but ignore my recomendations .... test before you buy

I was asking about the speaker cable, as what hifi mag from july 2008 (just found it in a cupboard) says:-

"to have an extended session evaluating speaker cable, as this should be able to put a little flesh on the bones of the xero's bass reproduction"

So I was wondering what cables the what hifi team would recomend.....

Cheers
