I've got a nice new 37" plasma and an HD DVD player (which upscales beautifully), and I'm looking for a modest (and discrete) surround sound package for a small room. So I want a receiver and speakers. And then along come the Q Acoustics Q AV, with their soundbar and it sounds like the perfect solution until you see that the complete price (with stand) is over £800, and I still have to add the receiver! So my question is, are there any other soundbar packages for less money that can do a reasonable job? And I suppose as a supplementary, is anyone going to make a case for spending that amount of money on the Q Acoustics? Thanks J

Yamaha do a couple of soundbars such as the YSP-900 (£600) digital sound projector, which delivers highly effective surround sound with minimal fuss. It has 21 x 2w and 2 x 20w amps built in, and will connect directly to your HD DVD player and TV.

Thanks, I'll look into them. I presume they deliver a decent bass?
