Hi

I'm looking to buy a new set of speakers and an amp. and wondered if anyone could help me out with some recommendations? I don't really want to spend more than £1000 (not including stands and cables). I like the look of the KEF LS50's but that doesn't leave me as much for an amp (I was thinking maybe a Yamaha AS500?). I also like the look of the B&W 685 S2, which would give me a little more to spend on the amp (although I don't have to go up to £1000).

I do like my music quite loud occasionally (we do have a few kitchen parties!), so want something with a bit of punch and reading the review the B&W's may be the better choice. The room is 24' long and 12' wide.

Can anyone give me some recommendations for amps to match and power these speakers adequately, or even alternative speaker options?

many thanks

Try to as much as u can. Usher s520 , Kef Q100, Kef Q300,Boston Acoustis A26. I have Yamaha As500 With Kef they sound good.

The really outstanding sub £500 amp is the Exposure 1010. It works beautifully with KEF speakers and I would suggest trying the Q100, Q300 and R100.

The Rega Brio-R is also excellent and works well with Dynaudio DM series speakers.

If you are using a computer or similar as a source, the simple solution would be a pair of Adam A7x active monitors, under £700 a pair with a serious performance should you wish to turn them up.

Perfectly civilised at normal listening levels but with a power and bass punch that woill be difficult to match at the price. You may need some kind of control but that is relatively simple to arrange.
