Hi all

I tried out some KEF speakers at the weekend in my hunt to find a good match for the Arcam Solo Movie 5.1.

They were the 5000 series http://www.kef.com/KHT/KHT5005/home.htm

The cinema performance was pretty good but they sucked with music compared to my current setup (Rotel Amp/Arcam DIVA CD / Mission 701 speakers)

I'm into dance music so I'd want the speakers to have plenty of punch - the KEFs just didn't do it for me. I was trying them out on Denon kit so I guess this would have an impact. Wondering what you would recommend for a balance between discreteness and all-out punch for a speaker setup?

Cheers

I'm no expert in this area, but I've never heard a 'style' package that didn't make we want to claw my ears off when used with music. In terms of discretion, I'd look at speakers that you can actually buy in pairs for stereo use, but are expandable to 5.1 - Q Acoustics 1010i, Diamond 9.1 AV, Quad L-ites, Dali Lektor, B&W 685 etc etc etc.

If you're looking for a style speaker package, then try out the B&W MT-30s.
