sound system for £1000

Hello,

I've just moved into a new flat and would love to spend around 1k....well 1k max. I'll have the speaker system set up in my lounge..... I dont need a cd player as i'll be using my ipod/computer to play my music from.

I just want some really good looking black speakers and a black amp that sound as good as they look!!!

All suggestions welcomed.... thank you!!

oh the music i listen to ranges from accoustic to 50 cent! So i need speakers that handle bass very well.... the 1k would hopefully include all cables! I would like an amp with optical input because i will be getting a new soundcard with optical output.... not sure what other info would be useful! thanks again!

ok mate i did a bit of searching and i cant find a stereo amp with a opyical input i hope some one in the forum has an idea of where to get one in the mean time i think this is a good amp if u wanna use a ipod as music player http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.cfm/Product_ID/3364

ideally i want two floor standing speakers! i guess optical input isnt a must! was just an idea as i do not know too much about this..... I'm good with technology, but would rather get advice from the experts!

The perfect set up would be two good size (4ft ish) floor standing speakers, a decent amp which i could easily connect my computer or ipod too! Within the month I also aim to get a 47" flat screen, but i am not sure if i'll keep the systems seperate or not.....
