Sound & Display Problems- possibly HDMI

Hi,

In regards to the HDMI some times it gets picked up when i turn say the sky box on, but other times there is nothing there, as if the HDMI isnt even plugged in. And if you try to watch Sky when the HDMI does work and you get a picture, after a while it distorts and the picture gradually breaks down and jumps and stalls and breaks down.

Sounds like HDMI cable failure. Change it & see if it solves the problem.

Hi, Thanks i have contacted the supplier and have arranged a new cable to be sent out, the only issue i have is that all the cables are hidden in the wall so i now need to dig out the plaster and remove cables then replace, but then have to fork out the cost to get it replastered!!!

Indeed. And while you're digging plastering out, it may be a good idea to put a conduit in, so you can easily change cables if needed, without affecting the decoration.

Absolutely. The symptoms ( sometimes works ok, then stops working ) suggest that it might not be the cable.

It may sound silly but I had similar problems. Turned out to be using heavy and thicker hdmi cables resulted in the connection of the cable to the blu ray/amp working loose. These sorted out the problem and make a very secure connection. Bit of a tight fit with upgraded QED cables but do the job nicely...
