Hey guys

Have tried to look through past threads on the above player (of which there seems to be googols) and can't find an any relating to my issue, although, I'm sure there are. I have just bought said player and hooked it up to my new Samsung 55UE6005 LED. Having watched my first blu ray, I am Legend, I noticed that the film stuttered a number of times throughout. Only a slight stutter of a fraction of a second to a second, but it was definitely noticeable. I have read on another forum that someone else had a similar problem on some of their blu rays, but not all (King Kong was mentioned). Is this a settings issue, a general blu ray issue, a synergy issue between player and tv or something completely different??

Also when loading a blu ray, a display comes on screen showing 1920 x 1080 @ 24hz. I've also seen the same but @ 60hz. Can someone explain this to my in novice terms? When watching Viasat (Sweden's equivelant to Sky) it shows 1920 x 1080 @ 50hz. What's the duce?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Several reasons why this can happen.

1. Dirty or scratched disc.

2. The Disc could be a 50gb dual layer, as with dvd's when moving between layers you may get a slight pause.

Godriah:Also when loading a blu ray, a display comes on screen showing 1920 x 1080 @ 24hz. I've also seen the same but @ 60hz. Can someone explain this to my in novice terms?

Speed & refresh / frame rate

Godriah:When watching Viasat (Sweden's equivelant to Sky) it shows 1920 x 1080 @ 50hz. What's the duce?

As Above

Godriah,

No problem with King Kong or any other movie on mine.

What I always do though, religiously, is to wipe every disc clean of before I put it in the player.

I would suggest you try doing that.

Thanks for the replies so far like. I've checked the disk and it is
scratch free (as it should be. It's brand new!!) I also wipe discs
before playing so there was also no dust that I could see on the disc.

With
regards to the speed refresh rate/Frame: is this something that's determined by the
player, TV, quality of feed, or is it something that can be adjusted?

Thanks and again, please bare with this novice!

Ok, so have just watched Avatar on Blu Ray and still there is a slight skip/judder during playback. The first happening after 1m 36s. I mean, it's not a big deal as I've mentioned previously it lasts a fraction of a second, but it is definitely noticable (to me anyway) and is kind of getting on my wick.

No issue for me here on my Marantz Blu-Ray, so it's not a general issue.

Yup, but thought it was worth testing on mine to prove it wasn't an issue with the disc, but something particular in the OP's setup. Whether it's the Sony or not now needs to be tested.

Works perfectly on my Sony 370.

Hi
Thought it was worth posting as I also have a Samsung LED albeit a different model.
Within Picture Options there are a pair of slide controls (0-10) which adjust BLUR & JUDDER. vie had to play about with mine as whilst I didn't have any stuttering Mine was afflicted by a halo type effect around characters I got rid of this using these controls. Purely going on the control titles I wonder if this may help you out ?

Thanks for the replies so far peeps. I actually use Motion 100hz off, but use "Smooth" picture motion if that makes sense. I have also tried, Cutsom, Clear, Standard and Off and the stutter happens with each setting.

To me, it doesn't seem like a TV issue, more of a disk/Blu Ray Player problem. If it is indeed a problem. I am in Sweden if that makes a difference ( I don't know if there are different quality disks over here!!)

Haven't checked at what time I am Legend starts skipping, but I remember it happening within the first couple of minutes, and then every 10 minutes or so. Will double check and post back.

Cheers again.

Haven't had a chance to play around with it over the weekend, although my girlfriend has said that she can't see any stuttering whilst watching I am Legend. Her eyes are shapeless though. I've also noticed a slight judder with HD content on TV. Mainly with football, say after a replay of a shot or a save and then the camera gives a close up of the player, there will be a slight stutter as the player moves. Am I being over critical? Or maybe the cables are the problem. I am using one that came with the TV and one that I bought off ebay for a couple of quid! I'm definitely not in the market for cables that cost a shedload.

Cheers.

If it's any use I have an S570 and have noticed juddering from time to time. Most recent problem was with an AVCHD (format 1440x1080i) encoded blu-ray I rendered. I solved this with conversion mode set to: video and video format set to: original (ie don't attempt to upscale the HD on the blu-ray). I've not tried this with film release blu-rays which, of course, aren't encoded in AVCHD.

Thanks for that bit of advice. I am at work at the moment, but will be trying that as soon as I get home. I did change HDMI inputs and still the slight stuttering was there. The most recent Blu Ray I've watched is Band of Brothers and it is still noticable although not so much during fighting scenes with lots of motion.

I started out using the one that came with the TV. Then I bought some other cheap ones off Ebay which show the same stuttering. I'm not really in a position to buy expensive cables at the mo, but if you really think that that may be the cause, then it's def something I'll think about in the future.

Cheers.

Can I ask Question has anybody had the 370 picture going black and the sound going of, only for about 3 seconds while watching a blu-ray, it happened twice while watching shutter island last night and once while watching toy story one, both are brand new discs.

Mine hasn't done it yet! It's only a couple of weeks old, and I haven't really been using it heavily. Does yours stutter during playback of Band of Brothers (assuming you have it given your profile pic!?)

I too have the S370, I watched Hancock last night, and there was a slight stuttering every now and again. I hadnt had any of these issues before the latest software update, which was supposed to rectify this problem people were experiencing. Unfortunately for me, the latest software update has now caused my player to have sound drop outs every now and again.
