I intend to buy a 3D TV and blu-ray player. At the moment, my preference is the Samsung UE46C8000 TV and I like the Sony BDP-S770 blu-ray player. However, I wonder if is a good idea to combine 2 different branches (Sony and Samsung). Wouldn't it lead to overall quality loss or compatibility issues and is it better to buy both from the same branch ? Or doesn't this matter at all (in a way that it's no problem to connect a Sony to a Samsung) ? thanks in advance, Dirk

There should be no compatibilty problem with connecting a Sony BD Player to a Samsung TV, this is the main reason for buying seperates to get the best out of the system.

The only possible conflict may be in the HDMI CEC control protocols - the stuff that lets one handset operate a Sony TV and player, and so on. Just make sure that Bravia link is turned off on the Sony, and Anynet on the Samsung, and you should be fine.
