We have a sony kdl-32v4000 which previously worked fine, but recently seems to have devaloped some picture issues.

Over the very bad weather the picture became very blocky and the sound too as you'd expect with interference from wind. However these days even under normal conditions Dave and E4 especially are unwatchable on an almost daily basis. I've tried re-tuning the tv with no effect.

Could the tv be on the way out? It's only about 2 years old so should be ok.

Are these channels more suseptable to if the arial has moved?

Digital TV does break up in different ways to analogue, either blocking or sporadically breaking up rather than just showing noise or snow as analogue would. I'd suspect either the aerial has moved or been damaged, or the downlead has sustained damage, as a result of the severe weather in the winter, thus reducing signal strength.

Thanks Andrew, we need to ask the others in the block if they are having the same problem as i believe it's a communal aerial.

It sound like some water as got in your cable or the contacts in the aerial where you attach the cable have become rusty. If I were you I'd invest in a signal strength meter. It will tell you only how much signal you've got, but not the quality. So to check quality, switch to analogue and see what the pictures like. If it's really fuzzy then you need to check the aerial and lead. If you've got vertical banding or strips, then you could have to much signal. This is as bad as not enough signal or a poor quality signals. If you have this, you'll then need an attenuator. You can get variable ones from most electronic stores. This will give you the option to tune how much signal makes it to the TV. Also a lower level signal is advised if your going to run it through a aerial amplifier/distributor. If you don't you'll end up with to much signal again. Hope this is helpful. Jase

Thanks Jase, Ill give that a go tonight and see what happens. Not even sure the analogue is tuned in at the moment!
