Hi All

Just hoping for a bit of assistance. I currently have a Sony 32D3000, DAV-DZ860W and a PS3.

The DAV-DZ860W sounds really good if playing a normal DVD. However I cannot figure out a way to play sound from the TV from the system. I choose the TV input on DAV-DZ860W and the Sync seems to be working but still no sound.

It's connected via HDMI straight to the TV.

Has anyone with a similar Sony system had the same issue and fixed it?

Many thanks

D

sorry are you trying to play the sound from the tv through the dav or the sound from the dav through the tv? if you want sound from tv you'll need a pair of interconnects from the tv out to the dav tv audio in - if your trying to play sound from the dav to the tv there will prob be a bypass in the menu as normally they either decode internally or send audio direct to tv not both at the same time

Apologies If I wasn't clear. I'm wanting to play the TV and PS3 audio content via the DAV system.

When using the DAV as a DVD player, the piture works fine on the TV as does the surround sound.

PS3 input to the system via the optical digital input, analogue audio output sockets on the TV to the analogue audio inputs on the system, job done.

I think you're getting confused by the HDMI connection between the system and the TV - it's only an output (ie there're no signal flow from the TV to the system)

Hi, I recognise the problem. If you want to hear the sound from the TV, connect the TV to your amp using either a coaxial audio cable (better bass and high volume), or by a digital cable sometimes know as a TO*** (for Toshiba) audio cable. They cost , for a short 0,75m cable from EUR 1,00 each on Amazon.de, the German Amazon company. Don't waste the money buying at twice the price in the UK. Vorsprung durch Technik, but not at Audi prices . . .

Thanks all. I now have all the cables. The PS3 is directly linked to the amp via the optical cable, optical output on the PS3 and DTS 5.1 options on the sound menu for the PS3 chosen. I've had a fiddle with all options and using the DVD player I can confirm that all speakers actually work. I've checked the frankly useless manual and still all I can get is effectively 2.1 surround sound with the two front speakers and the bass. The centre speaker and rear speakers are silent. I can only imagine I am still missing something very obvious... I can't help feeling I'm so close. Any further ideas much appreciated
