Any news team on when this machine will be available? On Sony's website, there are now details of the 5400es but not the 24 or 34. The 24 is widely available for pre-order and Superfi told me the other day that they have them trickling in already. I have now changed my mind (again), after being attracted to the newish Yamaha (rrp was £800 and now £600) that was given 5 stars in this months mag but have since found that it's not a receiver (no radio) and there is no GUI. As I have a Sony BD player on order, a Sony LCD and my current receiver is a Sony, I am now convinced that a newer, better model might be best for me. This is such hard work all this upgrading lark!

This is the amp I am seriously considering. HiFi Confidential have them but there seems to be a £50 premium on a lot of their stock I've noticed.

When I've searched for av gear it always seems to be £50 more expensive with them. If you look on the other forum someone has already got one. Maybe the first owner in the World, I don't know but I've not seem any owners on any English forum; N. America, UK or Australia.

Great, thanks for that. I might pop down there tomorrow to demo it. Has anyone used this company before? By the way, £699 is the rrp.

I'm not too sure about this amp now.

After comparing a picture of the rear US and UK models. 4 things are missing:

[*]No sat. radio (we don't get that in Europe).[*]No serial port. (Same as the 3300) If it's used for updates then we've screwed again.
[*]No IR sockets. (Same as the 3300)[*]No trigger (same as the 3300)
[*]No 5yr ES warranty.
And to cap it off we pay a lot more than the USA. Where the serial port and IR/trigger sockets are there is just a blank plate with loads of writing on it e.g. (c)Sony etc..

What's the point of zone 2 when you can not remotely control it in the UK?

Any What HIFI staff care to comment?

Welll, yes, when we designed the UK model what we had in mind was...

Seriously, I'm not sure what kind of comment you're expecting us to make - we haven't even seen the product yet, and I'm really not going to start making judgements based on piictures.
