Sony S-Air Help

Hi,

Hopefully someone knows the answer to this. I have a Sony DAV-DZ680W with S-Air wireless rear speakers. It uses EZW-RT10 transmitters which you plug into a port on the rear amp (TASA100WR) and the DVD player. I've stupidly (having read lots of info and missed a key detail) bought a Sony STR-DN1000 AV amp which also supports S-Air wireless rear speakers. I have other kit and want all of fed through the multiple HDMI ports on the amp and a single HDMI to the TV, hence the amp as well as the existing surround sound DVD player. Upon getting the amp out of the box I discover Sony in their infinite wisdom have fitted a different socket for the S-Air transmitter EZWT100 and my existing transmitter won't fit it. Thank Sony for labelling everything as S-Air compatible and then building multiple versions of it.

1. Does anyone know if there is an adaptor to make the transmitter fit the new socket?

2. If there isn't an adaptor are the two different types of transmitter even compatible - i.e. in the USA it is possible to buy the new transmitter on its own, but will it communicate with the old receiver in the surround amp.

3. Anyone know if its possible to buy either the adapter or EZWT100 transmitter in the UK, otherwise I have to get a friend to buy it and post it to me which will take a few weeks!

Sorry for lots of model numbers etc!

Thanks!

I am having the same issue. I have the DAV-DZ860W and need an additional EZW-RT10 transceiver card as the unit only came with 1. I cant seem to source the card anywhere in the UK. If anyone can shed some light on where I can buy the card from or if anyone has one to sell please let me know.

No-one replied. I tried asking Sony technical support but they knew nothing about the model numbers. When I finally got through to them what I needed they said they couldn't even get it as a spare part for the WAHT-SA1 which it comes with. They put me through to a separate company who sell Sony spares but no joy there either. In the end I have ordered from B&H Photo/Video in the USA. I've used the shop in New York in person before so I'm relatively happy about using them. The part is only $40 but then its $50 shipping so it comes to about £70 then you have to pay import duty which is about another £30. Mine is currently at East Midlands airport apparently. I'll let you know when it arrives!
