Sony Receiver/STR-DA2400ES

For some reason my Sony receiver as started to play-up.

When I press the "Theatre" button on the remote control to turn on the surround sound (so turns off TV speakers and turns on Surround sound speakers) the picture becomes duller.This happens wheather it's a DVD playing or the Sky+ set-top-box, so I am guessing tyhey are not the culprits. I've checked the HDMI cables, even swaped them around but no joy. Yesterday I rteset the receiver to the factory settings but this did no work either.

Not sure what to do next, so any suggestions/recemendations would be gratefully appreciated.

At a guess, the theatre button alters the settings on your TV, is it a Sony?

If it is, it will have picture settings for Movie, Studio etc. Check what mode your TV is in before and after you press the theatre button.
