My brother has the above and we can get the TV to 'sync' with the surround sound system and vice versa BUT the PS3 (when playing blu-ray DVD's or games) wont let the sound play through the surround sound system (when its set to 'TV).

The TV and surround sound system have been synced and are connected via a HDMI cable; the Sony PS3 and TV are also connected via HDMI but the PS3 sound will only come through the TV.

Now i personally have the same TV but also the Sony DAVIS50 surround sound system and a Virgin TV box; the Virgin box is connected via a scart lead to the TV and the TV to the DAVIS50 via a phono cable and set on AV1; when i select 'TV' function on the DAVIS50, the Virgin sound comes through the surround sound system no problem.

I thought that this would have been the same case for my brothers set-up but when you select the surround system to 'TV' it mutes the sound when using the PS3 via HDMI for games/DVD's!The problem is that my brothers surround sound system doesnt have any phono connections; just an optical and digital coaxial.

Sorry for the long winded explanation but has anyone got any ideas re this as to why the sound isnt coming out when using the PS3 and the surround system set to TV? Has the 'handshake' not worked correctly or do we need to connect the PS3 via optical to the surround sound system?

Thanks for all/any advice :)
