Sony MDR-V6 Headphones

Hi.

Recently went looking for a pair of headphones after my Koss gave out after 10 years of vigorous use. Went to see a friend of mine who runs a record label ( not consciously trying to advertise, just showing that he exists ) Busy Bee Records, and he introduced me to these Sonys. I thought they were superb. He told me he paid £60 from an online Sony dealer but when I came home, I found them for, wait for it, £25.20 from, apparently, the Sony OEM factory in China. I thought it was a con!!. It wasn't. They arrived 10 days after order in the Sony box, with the zip case to put them in but I still wasn't convinced until I plugged them in.

Fearing the worst from my purchase, I spun some electronica dance music through them. If I told you what I said out loud after the first few beats, it would be edited by Mr. Everard. These cans are superb with little leakage. Claimed frequency response is 5Hz to 50kHz. And I reckon that is about right.

Has anybody else encountered these cans and, if they have, what are their impressions of them??.

How leakless are they? If you were in a library, would you annoy someone sitting at the next desk?

I can sit in the same room as the Missus with them on full blast and, whilst she can hear it, it doesn't annoy. At normal levels, she says she can't hear it.

Thanks. The Sony's appear to far more popular in the US than here, going by the reviews on a headphone only forum.
