I am looking at buying a 37" to 40" TV in the january sales, but have just seen a Sony KDL40W4000U for a great price at Richer Sounds.

However, all the reviews i've seen are for the KDL40W4000 (without the 'U'). Is the review of the same tv? Is there any difference between the one with a 'U' and the one without? If this is the same TV then i might be tempted to get now instead of waiting, as the price is so good. However, if not the same TV, i don't want to get ripped off!!

Any help appreciated!!

Cheers

A couple of other websites refer to it as the W4000U as well, but I'm pretty sure it's the same set. Might be worth a quick call to Sony UK (08705 111000) just to double check.

They also do an L model which, when I was looking for a tv, retailed for around £670 at a local sony centre. It was a new line and they just got it in. That was about 2 or 3 months ago.

Funny story about that one; I actually went back a couple of times because I thought it looked fantastic, better in fact than the W4500 and only slight telecine judder made me think twice. Lovely matt frame too. The first time it was on the main shop floor next to the best selling W and V range.

When I returned a week or so later it was'nt there anymore but was moved to the back of the shop. On asking why I was told that most people thought the same as me and did'nt bother with the award winners so they had to separate them ...

Hi guys

The U at the end of the product code refers to the British 3pin plug. Hopefully this wll clear up some issues.

keep up the good work!
