you need another hdmi cable to go from the blu-ray player to the davis 10 .. hi res sound wont travel via coaxial cable ..

edit .. i see the sony davis 10 doesnt have a hdmi input .. not sure what you can do then ..

Clueless Bob,

Your blu-ray player can be connected directly to your TV via the HDMI connection, and to the DAV-iS10 using either an optical or an electrical digital connection.

You must note however, that you will not derive any of the benefit of HD audio found on blu-ray discs as neither one of these connections have the appropriate bandwidth to carry any HD codecs through.

You will only still hear the regular Dolby Digital.

i think you need to set the s370 to output audio via optical and not hdmi which may be the default setting..

edit .. beaten to it

hi, what are you runing your s370 into? an amp or a dav is10 type setup ( cinema in a box ) if you havenever seen a davis10, gonna try messing with every option in audio set up, its a ****** as it came from ebay with no instructions. what is the best conections for hd audio from a bluray disc, if with coax/optical, and most people being restricted by budget you dont get the quality it says it provides, most people with bluray players may as well just stuck with there proline dvd players. can you recomend a surround heavy movie to give a blast on my system to atleast have a chance of knowing if its sending anything to the rear speakers, cheers for responding.

Clueless Bob,

Most of us own separates and run the blu-ray through a HD amp. I am familiar with the Sony DAV-iS10 system - you can do much better for the same or not much more money.

My friend bought these contrary to my advice and is now regretting it. There are so many other viable options that will let you enjoy HD sound.
