Sony Bravia ZD9 4K HDR TV with Backlight Master Drive is launched!

Now that's very interesting!!! I think because of OLED domination in PQ, both Samsung and Sony have to up their ante quite significantly if they are to remain competitive. This is a win win situation for us consumers. Given the Samsung has stopped offering 3D, Sony has the edge!

Let's see what Panasonic comes with in response.

Based on specs alone this is the type of tv i desire. If they keep releasing new models of this with upgrades every year or two i would happily pay a bit more for a tv like this. Maybe £2000 once its end of cycle reductions. Now we just need people to test how bright it can go!

Sounds like sony over juiced all the tv's in their press release to show how it handles being over juiced compared to lg and Samsung.

But what about when they are side by side calibrated and not trying for max luminance.

That's the real world every day more important test.

Sure reviews will be all over this.

It's Good for consumers that there is this much competition in the market

Yes, I'll reserve my judgement until I see some formal reviews. Looks very promising I must say. I am likely to buy a 65-inch TV when prices fall after Christmas for my open plan living area.

*good*

Increasingly, I think the ZD9 would suit my needs better with a smaller foot print, cheaper, 3D and built-in cable management.

Press releases are known for making the manufacturer's television look good at the expense of competitors' televisions, (and who knows how or if the competitor sets were calibrated or set up). As folk are saying, an independent proper review is what we need. We'll just have to wait until about October for the first reviews, the sets will go on the market in September.

The 65" model won't drop to half of its launch price!!

Never say never! 😉

What was the launch price of your 75-inch Sony, and how much did you buy it for?

I don't know its launch price, but the highest I can remember seeing it at was £2,200. I bought it for only £200 less, so not really close to half price .... but then, it's very much still a current model, it has not yet been discontinued.

I wish the review video made mention of picture quality. Just no real info as per performance.
It wasn't meant to be a review.....was essentially an unboxing video. You have to wait for the review.
I suppose so. Hope to see a review very soon, cause I got my eyes on the Sony as well.
