I currently have a denon 1910 which is still a sharp player my TV is a Hitachi Plasma (p42h4011)with a resolution of 1024 x 1080. Some say that this TV is not full 1080p and some yes it is? Would upgrading to the sony blu ray player be worth it in performance? Im dying to see Blood Diamond on Blu ray...

ihi mike yes your plasma is full hd 1024x1080p 1024x720 is hd ready but not full hd hope that clarifys this.yes i would highly recommend blu-ray player casino royale, 30 days of night would be my recommendations as well , if you have a hd amp you will be amazed at the sound quality as well if not use analogue cables to connect blu ray player to nonhdmi amp but both components must have 5.1 outputs, if not you will still be impressed with picture quality enjoy.

Thats an unusual resolution. But FullHD, or 1080P is in fact 1920 x 1080, so if your numbers are correct, it isn't FullHD.

ÿ

Either way the BluRay will blow the picture from the old DVD player out of the water.ÿ

Yeah my specs are right and honeslty I wish I would have looked more closely when i bought it in the first place. So with it being 1080p how do they get away by selling at full HD and especailly 1080p? But you guys still think that the sony will beat up on my denon

Don't worry - I have an HD Ready Pioneer and the picture from the Sony 350 Blu-Ray is great, a clear improvement over upscaled DVD. The imagine is sharp and completely noise-free. ÿ Contrast levels are spectacular, so that something like Batman Begins, with all the night scenes, looks amazing. ÿIncidentally, the Sony is an excellent upscaler too, although my TV is marginally better. ÿThe uncompressed sound is very exciting and another advantage.

i remember a while ago shops where putting hd ready stickers on tvs that were not full hd especially the older models, as regarding sony ps3 performance against the denon there is a big difference also have alook at panasonic blu-ray players which are excellent as well have alook on the review page.firmware updates have also brought standard dvd performance up a notch.
