the review in the latest issues suggests that both the picture and sound of the 370 now surpasses the quality of the much loved 760 in terms of quality so is this the trickle down effect better value for money or has the tech really moved on that much. Is the picture and sound both significally better or only better in terms of value for money

is the extra cost now just down to the extra features ie wireless connection/audio outs as opposed to improvements in pictures and sound?

i havnt seen either player in action , so cant comment , one thing though , i just cant see how any bluray player can play bluray discs "significantly" better than any other ..

i mean , how much better can a picture get ? bluray is virtually flawless , even early bluray players display a brilliant picture..

just my thoughts anyway..

If that really is the case that the 370 now surpasses my 760 then mark me down as annoyed as that means after 2 months use my 760 has already been surpassed by a cheaper machine! I have no problems with the pace of technology these days but that is a step too far....to have it beaten by a considerably cheaper machine so quickly is a difficult pill to swallow.

i agree i paid £350 for my 760 when first released have ordered the 370 for my bedroom but i am going to do a back to back to see

the only advanage i would have expected to get would have been the addition of bbci player and sacd playback but if it in deed turns out to be a better performer i'd be very shocked but tech does move on so must be an absolute bargain

i agree but i have the 760 and cant really see how things can improve, i mean the 760 is awesome and i cant complain with my purchase, i guess the tv you watch it on can also make a difference but surely the differences must be so so tiny, what dump the 760 already, i dont think so

I wouldn't worry too much if you've already bought a BDP-S760, as it's still a fantastic machine. And of course it has wi-fi built-in, whereas on the BDP-S370 you'll need Sony's optional dongle for the full wireless experience.

Yes, the newer players such as the Sony BDP-S370 and Panasonic DMP-BD85 have a marginally cleaner picture with crisper edges, but that doesn't make the 'S760 poor. Far from it.

well review said better picture and better sound - so if features arn't a must it must be exceptional

is the adding of bbci player software or hardware - is it something that could be added to the 760 with firmare update?

my router is in my bedroom so wasn't bothered about wireless connection - currently have my new sony 37ex403 setup with wired connection which will swap to blu ray as only really wanted iplayer

is there anyway what hi-fi can start posting there review settings for tvs and other kit would be interesting to see

Well I bought a S370 yesterday, and so far, I'm not really that impressed. But I don't have any blu-ray's yet, so that must be the problem. One thing I'm sure, dvd upscaling isn't it's greatest quality. My Denon dvd1740 (and Denon avr1909) upscales (alot) better.

Installing the sony is easy, just plug in a HDMI and network cable, and power the thing up. It immediately connected to the sony server saying there was an update available, so had that installed.

The bdps370 is rather picky about videofiles on usb sticks too, and you can only use usbsticks formatted as FAT32, usb hard drives are totally not supported.

I'll get back once I have some blu-ray's, but all stores are now closed untill monday.

btw, is there a first test in WH? Damn, why do I have to wait another week (or more) before I get my magazine

Has anyone upgraded to this from the Sony S350 and if so is it much better? Also will the S370 be 3D compatible after a firmware update?

Yeah. I had the same problem with my car. Didn't really impress me until I bought some petrol.

Nice one

But I was just aiming at the fact that my denon dvd1740 is better in upscaling dvd's.
I'll be buying some Blu-ray's on my way back from the hospital tomorrow, so I can see what the Sony has to offer.
