Looking at the specs not a busting lot except, the BDP-S770 has a backlit remote & better components may be installed due to it weighing 2.7KG opposed to 2KG of the s550 model & both play 3D Blu-Ray.

Well mine arrived this morning and despite the lack of the "shelf" design which featured on the 370/570 models which I quite liked, it is fine looking piece of kit like ES stuff of old. No feet to speak of, so if your rack has a lip on the edge you will have to sit it on something.

Mega quick to start up (even compared to my outgoing BDP S550) and set up both wired and wireless networks, easy access for Iplayer/lovefilm etc though haven't worked out how to stream music from itunes on my PC yet.

Sony www.sony.co.uk have it on next day delivery on their website since 14th Sep 2010. Currently at £289

Would like some reviews how it compares against the S570 and also the old S760

Picture is definitely an improvement and even the other half commented that it sounded a bit more "punchy"

Mine came from Laskys for £279.00 but then price matched cheap electricals at £259.00

Apple is not part of DLNA league. Itunes is not a compatible streaming client for Sony (or pretty much anyone else). You will need to have Win Media Player sitting in background to do it, or install something like TVersity etc....
However, you can forget your playlists. TVersity picks them up erratically, and WinMP wont see them at all (unless you manually keep them synched).

Unless you HAVE to have iTunes, then ditch it and stick with Win Media Player. Its far more compatible and both the encoding and sound quality are better. If you dont believe me try it for yourself.

Hi Motley,

You say picture is a definite improvement, but what are you comparing against? Are you saying its an improvement over the S570 or S760?

cheers

Hi - as far as we've been told, the player is virtually identical to the 'S570 but with a slightly different design and backlit remote. We've asked Sony for a review sample, which should hopefully arrive any day now...

Looking forward to the review, hopefully there is something more in it than a backlit remote and different shape.

Did you get the review sample yet ? Any first impressions ?

I'm really hoping this is gonna be as good as the 760 was last year, keep checking everyday and see Sony are selling them but not many others. News and units seem to be slow to filter through, I'm getting impatient ;-)

According to the reviews/comments on avs, no, there's no analogue outputs. You'll need to grab yourself an old 760 if you want those....

Sevenoaks have BDP-S770 Multi region for £279, not sure how the multi region is done (hardware or firmware) or if its dvd only multiregion. Think I'll give them a call in the morning.
