About this upgrade (19/11/2010) :

This utility upgrades the BDP-S370 / BDP-S373 firmware to version M03.R.695, and provides the following benefits:

• The issue that an unnecessary warning message
  recommending the upgrade of the BD player software appeared when playing
  some discs has been fixed.
• It is possible to input not only ASCII character
  but also others (Chinese etc.) to the player from other devices (iPhone,
  iPad etc.)

Oh well.

I guess after trouble-free monthly software updates on all of our past and present computers (Mac and PCs) for many years now, and countless successful firmware upgrades on DVD recorders, televisions, cameras, phones, iPods, iPlayers etc. I am not that bothered about scare-mongering.

Never had anything go wrong as a result of a software or firmware upgrade yet.

I too installed it last night - all seems OK.

Never bricked anything myself by doing a firmware upgrade but I know it does happen.

However, if it did happen it would be covered by the warranty.
