SONY 37W5500 GETS 5 STARS TODAY BUT NOT THE 46 ?

DONT GET THIS ONE, today in whathifi they give the 37w5500 a big fat 5 stars

but when it comes to the 46 which i have got a depoit on you give it 4 because of back light issues ?

must say i was in sony centre today looking at the w465710u which i believe is the same set as the w465500

and it was playing same blueray disc as the 46z4500 next to it

now the screen on the w465710u had a shade of blue on it during a clip that was all white

but the 46z seem to be pure white. would there be any reason for this or is the 465710u just set up wrong.

Seems entirely reasonable to me, the 46 displayed a flaw that the 37 didn't.

Well, to be entirely accurate it was the KDL-40W5500 (not the 46in) that we gave 4 stars to. But yes, the 40in model clearly had backlight issues, which the 37W5500 didn't. We can only base our reviews on how the individual models perform in test.

And we've often found discrepancies between one screen size and another, even in the same model range.

andy thank you for your response. i'm a footy fan so of course im after the best tv on the market at 46

can you recommend one in your opinion the best 46 for me or should i wait for the 46z5500 to come out

Hi Darren

Well, we loved the old KDL-46Z4500 so can't wait to see the new 46Z5500, but haven't tested it yet. However, we have tested the Sony KDL-46WE5 which was fantastic, so you may want to take a look at that too. And I wouldn't dismiss the KDL-46W5500 out of hand - if you can find one without backlight problems, it could be great.
