Sonos sound quality Android app v Apple Air Play?

I recently noticed a difference in the sound quality from my Sonos system between using the Android Sonos app and Apple Air Play on iPad. I believe that using either the Sonos Android app or Apple Airplay on an iPad, the Sonos system streams from Apple's Apple Music servers? So, there should be zero sound quality difference using an Android tablet or an iPad to control the Sonos speakers?

But it does seem that listening via an iPad (Air Play not Sonos app) does in fact make a difference to the sound. FWIW, listening to Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Country Joe, Bob Dylan and the like.

Am I imagining this? Thanks.

The source is the same, so there is no question of difference in SQ whatever the app may be, IMO.
