Was hoping to pick up a new soundbar in the current sales but I'm really torn over whether to get a Beam or an Arc in terms of whether the latter will really offer value for money in my setup, and I don't have time to trial them in a shop. When you dig into it, you hear really extreme opinions, such as this which I dug out of another discussion on the subject:
It isn't just that the opinions are different - I get that the Arc is twice the price and you'll get more feature for the money - it's that the differences are so extreme: folk on the one hand saying the Arc is a totally different class, and others telling me that the Beam is so good that you might as well pack your Arc up and save half the money. These are not small differences of opinion!
For the record, this is where I'm at:

For the record, this is where I'm at:
- LG G4 65" in a 3m x 4m room with a high, tilted ceiling.
- Would strongly prefer not to extend the system and get as much punch as possible from a single soundbar: this is mostly because I don't want to clutter up the room with additional speakers. I'd add a sub behind the TV at most.
- I'd also want to listen to music on the bar, but not often.
- We don't tend to crank the volume up so dialogue clarity is probably more important than cinema-style sound
