In answer to my own post.....

Post Paint Boy - Stephen Malkmus

From 2005 but just discovered it this year thanks to the mighty Spotify - Great laidback slacker tune with great words and cool twin guitar interplay, i could (and have) play this on repeat for hours...

'On Leave' by John Lees' Barclay James Harvest. Heartfelt but questioning tribute to the late Woolly Wolstenholme from JLBJH's new album 'North'. Moving and exciting at the same time and it was even better hearing it live in November.

You're gonna hate this, but I haven't heard anything better than Robin Thicke's blurred lines. Hearing it on the radio without seeing the preposterous but mildly arousing video, I thought it was a work of near genius. Its got a soul like Motown and is so simple, yet so catchy. I didn't see the did for several weeks and during this period I knew this was my track of the year by a quite large margin. Although I wouldn't be surprise to hear its a sample from somewhere,in which case I would revoke my vote.

Then again,I heard bob Dylan's it must be Santa for first time today, and that really is genius!but not this years, so....

Chance the Rapper " Acid Rain" just pips Earl Sweatshirt with "Burgundy". Hip hop is he only genre where there is anything innovative happening.
