If you're at a loose end today, you might consider visiting the National Audio Show at Whittlebury Hall, near Silverstone in Northamptonshire: Although predominantly a hi-fi show, there're a few things of interest to the Home Cinema buff, including a couple of rather impressive AV dems from Anthem and Arcam.
Arcam are demo'ing their pre/power version of their AVR600 (is it the AV888 and P777?) amongst other things (I think their new cut-price AVR600, the AVR500 is there too).
Anthem are demo'ing their full Statement Home Cinema set-up using the new highly rated Sim2 projector (£25,000) with the Promask Curve screen (£15,000) and the full line-up of top-flight processing, amplification, and using Paradigm speakers with their 4,500 watt subwoofer - total kit cost is in excess of £100,000. Playing a wide variety of demo material, including music-based blu-ray, it's a great reference point for anyone interested in Home Cinema wanting to experience what good home cinema can really do. There're also plenty of the established stand and cable manufacturers there selling various items and accessories (stands and cables etc) at discounted prices. It's a full day out if you're interested in the hi-fi too!
Both highly entertaining/educational dems set in large rooms.
Interesting note for Denon fans - This £100,000 Anthem Statement Home Cinema system is using Denon's 2500BT transport as a source (alongside a server), and Arcam's demo is using the Denon 3800 Player.
