I have SKY + HD and can record programmes on its hard drive. Sometimes I want to keep a film. The way to do this is take a scart from the SKY box to DVD recorder. Play the film on SKY box and press record on DVD recorder and it records over to the DVD recorder hard drive.

However before burning onto a DVD I checked the film on the DVD recorder ie play back - there seems to ae a slight shadow in the picture and a horizontal line slowly running across the picture. I have swapped SCART lead several times - still got the problem. Could it be the actual SCART connection on either SKY box or DVD recorder?

Any other reasons I assume SKY are not doing this deliberately to stop you doing this.

Thanks

When you go to the planner screen rather than just play the program have you tried using the Copy facility. Use the left/right button to find it.

The Green Button.

Haven't done it since having HD but when I had ordinary Sky+ always used the copy function.

I have a Pansonic HDD and DVD recorder which I use to archive TV series from the Sky +HD box via scart and it works fine every time. I delete the adverts before archiving them to DVD. The main limittion is the scart cable. I can only suggest you check the scart settings in your recorder with your manual incase that could be the reason.

Best Wishes
