Guys Hoping you will be able to help me. I have recently got Sky HD and have downloaded the Sky+ app for my iPhone. I have accessed 'mysky' and entered my details and upgraded to their premier account using my viewing card as reference. So all seems fine. Except: I've downloaded the remote app, logged in using the same username and password. No issues. I've gone to the remote record part of the 'mysky' website and it has confirmed I have successfully registered. I have even had an email saying such. However, when I tried to record something yesterday whilst at work (to test the app) I got home and it hadn't put it on my recording planner on the HD box. Why is this?? I can't think of any reason why it shouldn't work. The only possible thing is I have my phone line connected to the HD box via a wireless extender. I can access Sky Anytime on my box so assume that is working fine!!? It has a solid green light on the main wireless box and a flashing green light on the one connected to the HD box, which I believe is correct.... Any ideas??? Cheers all

Not sure how you can have your phone line connected to the HD box using a wireless extender? It should be connected to a normal phone socket - you can test this using the services button on your Sky remote I think to check the phone line is working correctly....

The phone connection has no bearing on the remote record facilty!

The only purposes the phone connection serves is A) ordering Box Office/PPV events and the premium Interactive garbage and B) So Sky can check the box is where it's registered to, by forcing the box to phone home periodically...

So how does the Remote App work then? Does it use the satellite dish to programme the HD box into setting up the record function?
I (perhaps) stupidly assumed it activated the HD box via the phone line, hence my reference to the wiresless phoneline extenders that I have (my HD box is at the opposite corner of the phone line point).
Hope that clarifies.

No, that would require the Sky box to answer the phone, how would it know when to answer the phone and when not to?

How much time was there between you setting the recording and the program starting, I seem to recall they ask for at least 30 minutes notice, if not an hour?

Hope that clarifies. It's a common misconception, mostly due to Sky's failure to make it clear what the phone connection is actually for..

No joy!! :(
I got home last night and checked the connections - just to be certain the phone line was not connected properly. My fault as I rearranged the box after it was installed and took the cable out. I plugged it into the Ethernet socket by mistake!! So I've changed to the correct socket. As noted above however that makes no difference.
Rang sky. After speaking to 4 different people, I finally came to a chap that seemed to know what he was talking about. He did explain that I didn't have a mobile number registered on my sky account so should put that in. Apparently it requires this for normal phone users who text their recordings to their box. So I deactivated my Remote Record function via 'MySky' and added my mobile number to my profile then reactived the record function.
Made no difference! I had to close the call as I had other plans (this was after 45 mins on the phone - oh how I look forward to that bill!)
So I'm back to square one. I'm registered via sky, my box all works fine, the app on my iPhone works and suggests the record request has been sent to my box, but nought!
Any ideas?????

From what I recall the mobile number needs to be registered both via the MySky website AND through Sky Active on your box (you need the MySky login from the website to access your account on Sky active). The trouble I found is that the MySky links for Remote Control are circular, you click on the home page, click on Remote Control (or whatever it's called), read the guff on that page, click on the link that you think will allow you to set it up... and it takes you back to the home page!

It might have changed since I last tried it, I gave up after an hour of trying to figure out where I was supposed to go to configure it, decided it just wasn't worth the effort.

Cheers the_lhc
I'll try and go through Sky Active on my box and see where that takes me too.
I agree about their website. I've logged in, gone to 'My TV' then to 'Remote Record' and it says I've actived it (a big tick shows too!). I've also tried doing from the TV Listings twice and both times come up with a error message saying it currently isn't available...
Like you I'm coming to the end of my effort with it all. Can't be bothered to spend hours sorting it out!!

Just an update - for some reason beyond my own comprehension, the app appears to work! I have successfully recorded a number of programmes over a two day period!!
