Hi

Just got Sky HD installed yesterday - a bit of a disappointment - the picture is not that much different.

What can i do to improve it - will buying a "swanky" connector other than the one provided make a big difference.

All advice welcome.

Thanks

G

SD channels will be the same (slightly worse in some cases depending on the success of the upscaling).

However, HD channels offer a massive improvement, did you subscribe to HD or just get the box without the additional?

Is it connected with an HDMI lead? The one supplied should be sufficient.

Getting sky HD on wednesday, and am hoping the HD channels blow me away on the 40in set.

I am using the qed performance when it comes, so this should be more than enough to connect up.

Was it HD that the picture was not that good with?

Yes we have subscribed to HD - there is a difference just not the huge difference i was expecting.

It is connected via an HDMI lead.

The HD picture.

When I switch from say Sky Sports to Sky Sports HD - i can't see much of a difference.

I just don't see a huge differenec between the SD piucture and the HD

What size tv are you watching on? Have you set the tv up, contrast, brightness wise etc?

The TV is a Panasonic TX-L32G10B - It is a full HD.

What do you suggest re contrast / brightness ? I have not changed these settings since moving from Sky + to Sky HD

Thanks

G

I hope you were watching a genuine HD programme. There's a lot of upscaled SD on Sky Sports - cricket from Bangladesh, most of the Super 14 etc etc.

I have had SKY HD for just over a year now and can see I am extremely happy with the picture and amount of content. I am using a QED Performance cable connected to my Sony 40" W4000. I could never go back to watching football in standard definition.

Like someone else mentioned in an earlier reply, just because the programme you are watching is on a HD channel, does not neccasarily mean that it was shot in HD. It could be that simple?

Keep us updated!!

Agree with all of the forum members answers. I would only add that you spend time setting up the picture on your tv as you like to view it in HD, I had to do this with my 42" Sanyo and like must viewers I really enjoy the excellent picture quality of HD.
