Hey

Has anyone got the problem were you are on SD channels, then when you switch to HD Dolby digital through a Optical, it brings out this annoying beep and sometimes stutters?

Could it be a damaged Optical?

Sky was just here and replaced the box and it still does this, and me and the Sky guy were scratching our heads. I did a system re-start on the pioneer, but nothing.

Does anyone know what this could be.... Any sugestions would be very helpfull as its really bothering me now.

Its the New Small HD box, Amstrad.

Thanks for any sugestions.

Tried a coax, and still doing it.

Sky dont want to know, and seems the Amp has a known issue with some sky hd boxes, well pioneer amps anyway.

Contacted pioneer and they were as dumb as the sky people.

Some people are saying that both companies are aware of the issue, but wont do anything about it.

Not sure how much truth is in that, but all I know is, it didnt do it on my old boxes, just these new ones.

They are coming back out today, fairplay to them, when someone complains on the max package they listen.

The guy is bringing an old style box to see if its the HD box or my amp.

Lets hope its not my amp, as bought on ebay, and do not want to ship it back to them for repairs.

UPDATE:

This engineer knows hi-fi stuff and optical, he said on the new box it is a known issue and the engineers keep telling sky and they do nothing for ages.

He gave me a new re-furb and they said it came from a different company, as the last one they used got sacked, and he says they are amazing, not one call back so far with this new company. UTL I think its called.

No more beeping or stuttering, so its the new box.

Just in case you guys have the same problem, he said its not amp specific its to do with the way the box sends the signal to the Amp wether it be optical or coax.

and also no sound difference between SD and HD channels, were one would be super loud and the other one super quite everything is all good again

A light at the end of the tunnel.

I can now report my fault to sky in the knowledge that there is a fix available.

To be honest this new refurb is better than any I have had before, responsive and no stutter or anything, but its early days.

It came with a certificate of work done, which the old ones didnt, I am glad I swaped my new box for an old one, as that sound was doing my head in.

Called sky to tell them its the new box, and she said ok will let manager know..... ya right you will.

I feel another pace incident coming on
