Could resist no longer and tonight i paid Sky the ransom fee for the HD Subscription.....wow, I though SD looked great but once you see HD you realise what these new tv's are for.

Just watched a bit of the darts and it was as if i was in the Ally Pally.

One slight issue though tonight i'm flicking through the HD movies and transformers lip syncing was out, all other channels were fine it was just that one film.

I don't see how i can fix that if it's just one channel, anyone any thoughts?

Cheers and Merry Christmas to the What HiFi Team and Forum users.

I'm assuming PQ is Picture Quality...................I'm such a newb 🙂

Well i only managed to see the 9664 in 2 shops before purchase i had narrowed down my search to this and a couple of other but i was really hoping i'd like this tv because out of most of the new sets out there this one had good sound and for a flat screen tv that's rare.

I saw it in Richer Sounds and it was not the best looking picture there was an LG below it which cost less than half which looked better but i knew from reading the forums that you cannot always rely on a tv being set up to it's best in every shop. But from what i saw i liked, the casing of the 9664 seems far more classy IMO over the piano blacks of all the others.

I saw the tv again in another shop and this time it did look the best but again that was no guarantee.

Took the plunge at Richer Sounds (excellent shop and the best warranty i could find) and although i do have a slight issue with banding during football matches 'see other post 9664 problems' i don't regret it. RS is sending me new one on 31st Dec.

The SD picture is very very good, we watched con air last week and the Philips produces a sort of 3D effect in it's pictures...very hard to explain but looks amazing. On HD it looks brilliant but then i'm sure most of these sets do.

So i cannot make up your mind for you as i dithered myself for a long time i just don't regret buying the philips, ambilight is an unexpected joy too 🙂

One thing to consider once you see programs in HD you will want all your viewing to be that way so prepare for an increase to you sky sub 🙂

Good Luck
