Sky HD and Surround sound

Ive recently upgraded to sky HD and want to get bennifit of surround sound where i can. I have an Onkyo 606 with HDMI connections from sky box to reciever.

ive heard somewhere that as well as the HDMI i need to also run digital optical from Sky to Reciever, is this true abd the best way to get surround sound from Sky.

is it just a case of connect cable or is there other settings i then have to change.

Yep, has to be done to get Dolby Digital.

Connect cable, make sure amp is taking video from HDMI and audio from optical / co-ax, then on the Sky box go Settings--Sound--Digital Audio Output - Dolby D

Yeh, the sky box will only send out dolby 2.0 via HDMI, so you need to use an optical cable and assign it on your AVR to that input, then change the input setting from auto for sound, to digital.
