i had a similar problem with my sky hd it was an oldish box but would not work with a 10m chord active cable and panasonic projector but a 3m cable and 5m cable worked ok so i took cable and proj to relatives house and tried on their hd box all worked ok got in touch with sky they sent an engineer and when i showed him he agreed to change box all is ok now if i run direct from sky to proj but i have probs with a chord matrix its a hdcp issue by the sounds of it

Only a thought -

Do you have an AV amp - if yes then try connecting sky box via that.

Some amps have 2 HDMI outs so you can connect to 2 displays at once (plasma and projector) and then simply select which output via the remote.
