Hi,

I am in the market for a new TV for my parents. They are interested in a simple TV with a good picture and brightness levels. Decent sound with good volume (due to their poor hearing) would also be a bonus, but a speaker system could be purchased to sort that out. Can you recommend a 40 - 42 inch tv that has these attributes? Advanced features such as smart TV, voice control etc are not required but inclusion of those would not be a deal breaker - they would just be unused. Budget is £500 but preferably less.

Cheers!

I would say is pay the extra £30 and purchase from John Lewis in store or online and you will get a 5 year guarantee for the TV as well which is well worth it should anything ever go wrong with it in the future.

It's a 6 year guarantee at Richer Sounds for £429.

I would still go with John Lewis as they have a far superior level of cover and customer service/support in my experience. I've had a few truly awful experiences with Richer Sounds customer services and guarantees on their TVs and wouldn't go back.

Each to their own though and if 6 years suits you better then go for it.
