Not the most technical question :? but I cant decide on what color to get on a new amp.

I think some look better in Silver then in Black and vise versa but with this amp, the Marantz PM 6004 I cant make up my mind.

Whats your take in this case? feel free to share.

Always black for me, if there is an option. Think I associate silver too much with cheap Fidelity and Amstrad stack systems from the early 80s. I even opted for a black iPhone bacause imo the white one looked cheap.

Buying a car must be a right nightmare for you. Way more than just two options. :p
Well, I dont give a (/&%¤# about the color of my car, smile and for Silver you have to pay extra.

 Now with bikes I care but I kind of solved it by owning two, one all black, the other black with a silver tank.

Maybe I should buy two Marantz or just try and Swap chassi parts with someone who has the other color and build a ZebrantZ

I think so to, for some brands or models its easy to choose but in this case I wasent sure.

Never seen a Black Nad thou.

Well now I decided and ordered one in Silver, thought it might shine alittle in the middle amoung all the other stuff and dark furnitures. So now on to looking for speakers to match, considering some bookshelfs with 6,5", maybe the Boston Acosutics A 26.

Anyone knows if they go well with the Marantz?

It will also be fun to test the Marantz with my 15 year old Arcam Alpha 5 plus. Similair specs and Both with ***** Stars review.

I have tested the Arcam back then, also against a much bigger Denon PMA-1080 and the Arcam sound was way better.

Feel free to recomend any other Bookshelfs that goes well with Marantz.

Cheers

And i've never seen a silver one, live any way...

Most expensive kits I've seen at shows are in silver. I guess if the whole equipment is in aluminum, then silver would look good. Cheaper equipment have plastic or an aluminum front with a metal body that's in a different silver. Black will make it look more uniform, but it can disappear in your rack. Unless you like your equipment flashy and visible, then go for silver. But most A/V equipment are black these days, so black is more futureproof.

Black is very nineties,

Silver for me now, Marantz PM7001 and a silverYamaha AS500, both retro looking things, very 70's, when hifi sounded better

Well my younger ears where a lot better at least ;)

Have had gear in both colours, but think Silver is the better choice. Silver looks more modern and clearly visible, where as black just gets lost in the shadows and you're left looking at over bright lights floating in mid air...

Just my opinion.

As per a previous post ... black is so 90's. These days 'silver' usually means aluminium which looks rather nice.

Black better if you black out the room for projecting. You want it all to disappear into the shadows.

I have an AV cabinet with a solid door, so can't see the colour of my equipment - which is a mix of silver (Arcam), black (Sony, Pioneer) and tasteless dark brown-black (I'm looking at you V+ HD box!).

And at the last moment I changed my mind and went for the PM 6004 in Black, to that I also got a pair of Boston A 26 in Black.

Hope it will be a nice match

Silver, I've got dark oak finish speakers sitting on a dark oak cabinet and the silver Denon amp sat between them really stands out. I guess if I wanted my sytem to blend in black would have been better but I want people to notice it. However, as some people have said some items and makes look cheap in Silver.

My Roksan kit was all silver and I would have preferred the Arcam to be silver but couldn't find one, so it's their blackish version! Swapped my black stand for silver to help lighten the room colour scheme.

Black for me, well mostly black; as Primare gear in black comes with silver knobs & buttons! 8)

Best of both worlds?
