Seriously underwhelmed by amp upgrade.

One other thing the learning Roksan remote is pig to use, don't like it at al.

There were 2 remotes supplied with my K2. I tend not to use the RMX-108 (LCD). I find the slimmer RMX-111 easier.

Congrats on your purchase. Buying the K2 amp & cd player was the best ( and most expensive) hifi purchase I've ever made. Stick with it. It's a fantastic amp.

If you do upgrade your speakers, the Kandy is easy to match with. Have been considering this with my Dali Lektors but the Roksan really brings out the best in them. I'd be worried that the change might not be for the better but something like Spendor SA1 I'm sure would be an improvement.

I still think demoing at the dealer even for a short time is invaluable - you just have to try hard to pretend your at home (within reason lol). Basically when i auditioned speakers, most of the time i found myself sitting forward in the seat analysing the music (which i never do at home). When the dealer put on a certain speaker (which i bought) looking back i noticed that for once i sat back in my seat and just enjoyed the music with my foot tapping away.

Walking over to the amp to turn it up is also a good sign lol.

I used to own the k2.

It lasted about a month.......could not stand it. Changed it for a nait xs .......12 months later still happy. Never understood the fuss on the k2.

True to an extent yes, but I am quite aware of my RP6 shortcomings and I know there are better decks out there for a bit more money!

So in essence, buying hifi is a bit of a lottery?

In a sense, but, in the case of amplifiers, virtually all the tickets are winners. The sound quality of even budget offerings is so great I would question whether one really needs to buy a premium priced amp at all.

Speakers are an entirely different kettle of fish.

I never doubted it PP, lovely looking too - i like the fact tweeters are at ear level unlike the RS3, but i do have my RS3 firing upwards

So what are your feelings towards a Gyro? Which one gives you the bigger improvement in SQ?

i didnt listen to the Gyro at home, but i did hear it with an Elicit/RS3 and an SMEIV arm and it sounding amazing, however Garys demo room was really well set up plenty of rugs wallcoverings low ceiling etc - it really is a diffucult situation trying to demo kit at this price point in a dealers demo room and making a decision on that 1 demo. I have the Arros here in my room, and If I am being honest.....yes they are better than the RS3 - i didnt realise they are £1295 i thought they were more - I have there Cherry pair on demo, they look & sound stunning but so they should for the money. I have been going through vinyl all night and it sounds absoultely stunning - even though I currently have a mere Nagaoka MP-110 on the RP6 - The Nagaoka definately is more suited to the Elicit's phono stage over the 10x5.

What you say is totally understandable, and I'm certainly not looking for Brownie points or "I told you sos". The thing you have to consider is that a Gyro will only enhance your vinyl - it'll be a cabbage when playing streamed music or radio, TV etc... whereas the Totems will give you immense pleasure whatever the format. That's a very poke-in-the-eye obv statement, I know, but this is the reason why I've been trying to steer you in the Totem direction.

At the end of the day, you (and you only) can decide whether spending £1300 on speakers or £1500-£1800 on a Gyro/SMV arm is the better route.

I only mentioned the Totems because it'll give you something to seriously think about...
