Sennheiser have just yesterday released their ultra high-end £599 earphone, the IE800. This earphone shares little in common with the IE80 or IE8 earphones and consists of various technological enhancements. Sennheiser’s state-of-the-art dampened two chamber absorbers (D2CA), ceramic housing and ergonomic ear adapaters shows that the IE 800 is loaded with numerous ground-breaking innovations. This is also the first time a 7mm extra wide band driver has been seen in a dynamic earphone, offering unsurpassed levels of performance, clean, distortion free bass and a frequency range of 5 - 46,500Hz.

We will have a review shortly, once we have let them run for a few hours and had a decent listen on different source equipment.

I spent a couple hours now reading reviews. Several mentioned the smaller ("Smallest yet") 7 mm drivers, yet when designing the HD800, Sennheiser went with a larger-than-normal driver. I wonder about this. Lots of mention about the bass, the power of the bass etc., but no real clue as to how the bass level compares to headphones like the HD800.
