Sennheiser CX-300 II problem

The other day the right hand headphone stopped working on my Sennheiser CX-300s so I thought that buying the Sennheiser CX-300 II would be the obvious option given their top reviews. So I went and got myself a pair, on first hearing them I was amazed, they sounded very poor. The bass was bordering on ok, but the treble was not there and the detail was as underwhelming as I have ever heard. I thought that maybe a bit of running in time might cure the problem as it made a huge difference with my CX-300s, (which I loved) but no, they still sound just as poor. I get a little bit more angry every time I listen to them because I know that they should be much better than this and I don't know what I can do to cure it. Is it the headphone? or is it me? I can't see any signs of damage to the headphones and was just wondering if it was a wide-spread problem, or am I just unlucky in the product that I received. If you have any experience of these headphones I would love to hear about it, and even more so if you have had the same problem.

Where did you buy them? Was it from a reputable dealer?

With any product there will be a failure rate and some items will need to be replaced under warranty. If you have given them a reasonable running in period and the sound remains poor, you should return them to the dealer who I am sure will replace them under warranty.

Hi,

I bought the cx-300 II and they sounded poor initially but now after burn in They sound great (30-50 hrs).

Cheers,

Steve.

Mine sounded great out of the box. May I ask, are you inserting them fully into your ear canal? If you are and the sound is poor then there must be a defect.

Hi rajee, I have made sure that the headphones are fully inserted before using them, when I push them in though the right hand side one makes a single clicking noise, the left one does not though.

I bought them from an AV shop based in Portsmouth, they tell me that all of their Sennheiser headphones are bought in from a Sennheiser approved distributor in the UK. I e-mailed them earlier and they said that they would replace them for me which means, until they arrive, I will have to use my Grado SR-225s so I can't listen to my iPod outside unless I only use one headphone. I hope that I don't get another bad pair, I will have to wait and see.

Thank you for your replies, they are much appreciated.
