A good question, often with a very personal response, though. Some prefer the HD600s over the HD650s. Some prefer the HD650s over the HD600s. A matter of taste, really, which is why you need to try out the different combos for yourself - there isn't a clear cut answer.

If I were in your position, I might be tempted to wait a little longer and save up for a bigger, more defined upgrade.

hi i own both senny 600 and 650 my pick is the 650s but the 600 are very good as well,
i use the musical fidelity x-can v3 headphone amp upgraded with russian tubes to drive them
i find i can listen longer to the 650s as the 600s are a little harsher imo.

Go for it, if you like the Sennheiser sound with the HD600 then the HD650 is an improvement. I would also say that they the K701 from AKG or better looking (personal opinion) Q701. They are blinking amazing headphones.

That`s a nice sized budget for a pair of headphones. If I was in your position I would actually still go for the 650`s and buy some new albums with the spare £200. 650`s with your Graham Slee is a great combination. One day if you come into some serious money then treat yourself to the 800`s but as I say, in the meantime you`ll be enjoying your music at a very good level of quality.

Apologies for hijacking the thread but at around £150 more for the option of a lime green finish, a spare cable, Mr Jones' signature on the box, and a (probably) paltry donation to his music foundation in the States just doesn't do it for me, I'm afraid.

Some people like more the DT880's over the 600's...

Well, if you want to have something different from the sennh's sound.

That will teach me to read posts properly in future! You already have the 600`s. Sorry, I was flitting around the house a lot yesterday.
Right, well I like yourself have the solo srg2 but headphone wise only the sennheiser 380`s and some old but comfortable senn 590`s. My plan is to buy some 650`s like yesterday. I have tried some run in 600`s and also some straight out of the box 650`s and I prefered the 650`s.

Your options I would say are sell the 600`s and buy some 650`s for not much more and have loads of money left over..

Buy something completely different for £500..

Or, put your £500 away and save up another £500 to buy some 800`s.

Mmmnn...out of those three I personally would probably rule out the second option. Reason being that with the slee solo the sound quality with the 650`s will be very good and to really get a big jump in quality I would think you`d need to get something like the 800`s (which I haven`t heard by the way) But will the jump from your 600`s to the 650`s satisfy your craving? This is a tricky one actually complicated by the fact you already have some 600`s.
Option three won`t satisfy your craving until you can save up another £500 plus you may not be comfortable with investing that much in some headphones.

Option one. If you don`t do it you`ll always wonder what it would have been like. If you can get a decent price for your 600`s then you`ll have a great set up plus plenty of cash left over!

I got there eventually! :)
