Im going to be selling my entire home cinema kit, it consists of floorstanders, surround speakers, 2 amps, subwoofer, projector and lots of cables. Maybe my xbox aswell. Anybody know if its a good idea to use ebay? should i try and sell it separately to get more money or just sell it all as one? Any advice would be good. thanks

Ive sold loads of HiFi stuff on ebay and never had a problem. Just make sure you restrict the people who can bid for example if you dont want to send it abroad.

I'd probably sell it all separately, as you're less likely to find a buyer who wants the whole lot!

Why are you selling up?

Baylos82,

1. Sell your kit on E-Bay.

2. Sell them separately as an individual item. Never sell them as a package.

3. Choose the appropriate time to list, duration (no of days) and ending time.

4. Check the weather forecast - sunny day ---> good for buyers, bad for sellers

5. Rainy days (not so great weather) ---> good for sellers, bad for buyers

Best of luck

And send stuff via a courier where you can verify receipt and insure it.

I sold a nice pair of Kef floorstanders on eB@y and they were trashed by the courier - obviously just thrown in the van or dropped.

I also sold an Arcam amp to a guy who then claimed it was damaged on arrival - he was clearly trying it on as when I asked him to send me a photo I never heard from him again.

I've also stopped selling by auction and use Buy It Now with Best Offer instead. That way, although you may not get the best price as a result of people getting carried away with bidding, you protect yourself against an auction bombing due to sheer bad luck. The BIN option is also good for buyers as if they want the item they can secure it there and then as opposed to having to wait a week for the auction to close.
